I love Neal as an actor. As a producer, he should have demanded more from the cast & writer/director. Feels like it was rushed to be made & released. Real studios take time to let a project finish properly. Various plot points left my head itching. Most referenced in other reviews.
The one that did me in, right near the end, was when Mot was stuck in the back of the Sheriff's SUV. The sheriff went in to talk with Jeb, leaving Motley alone in the back of the car. Mot tried to escape out the rear doors, but the Sheriff had locked them. There was NO cage in the car. All he had to do was climb over the seats and open a front door. They kept calling Motley "smart" throughout the movie, but couldn't climb over the seats. Dumb kid.
Anyway, if you're a McDonough fan, it's worth a watch. If not, PLEASE watch something else!
