If you want to sum up the whole film into one term, it would be Stockholm Syndrome. Gangster falling for a girl turning into a big softie (yes his nature wasn't awful from the start but bear with me). The man follows her around till the woman falls for the man who actually was there to collect her father's debt initially, nothing but a classic example of this very syndrome. The only positive thing about this film was that it is fast-paced, else I would have written a very long review on it!
"Man in Love" is genuinely for the male gaze, so if you are looking for something other than that, do not waste your time on this one.
