Having owned a custom woodshop for over 40 years I seriously question your material choices and methods on S3E4. Any good cabinet makeruy will always advise against using metal laminate for any counter top application. Also freehand mitering a large panel edge is amateurish at least and dangerous at best. I'm sure that edge was not precise. Having a woodshop is mostly about systems and all about experience. While wild and strange ideas are catchy I believe they are faddish and will outstay their welcome. I suggest either hiring experienced woodworkers or get some proper training and equipment.
