The 19th season of "NCIS" has not been very impressive so far. "Peacekeeper" being a huge flop. What the series needs in my opinion are new and good ideas that are well executed. "Collective Memory" is an episode with a very compelling idea- the murder victim helping the team to investigate her death. That idea needed a better execution though.
Let's start with the good.
. The production values of the episode are great. The direction's solid, so is the acting. The music fits the scenery.
. The case shows occasional intrigue, some moments (especially at the end) are touching. There are some relatable themes here.
But...
. The story could have been deeper. The idea of an hologram was compelling, but was too often turned into a joke. Parts of the mystery are padded and the question of: why was the victim found close to a Navy yard was never answered.
Overall, an okay episode.
5/10 HK.
