Solid Showing All Actors

Warning: Spoilers
A very good movie showing the unique drive of diner Etta g in the early 20s. You admire their ambition when it was not encouraged with women at the time.

The story progresses well and shows the process up and down, as well as with the marriage.

But it's hard to see, as her future husband Alderman says - it doesn't need to be this way. She is beautiful and talented to be able to make it on her own. So why does she rely on such a gangster brute for career?

The movie unfortunately has an inauthentic turn at the end. Snyder shoots Alderman, and Etting still dedicates her concert to him and helps save his failing club. But he just shot your future husband? She justifies it saying how much he did for her. And in true life Etying give 50 percent to Snyder upon divorce, and mentioned because of his help.

The movie is interesting and enjoyable. Cagney's performance is chilling as a gangster obsessed. Doris Day is undeniable talent but I can't fully get beyond she is Doris Day

Still a solidly acted movie, characters and songs. And to see the time period.

Worth a watch!
