When the Hardy Boys are snorkeling at the beginning of this episode I think I detect them smiling. I'm not positive but they sure do smile a lot, so I bet they're smiling in the shallow depths of the Atlantic Ocean.
The secret of the Jade Kwan Yin is a tough case for our smiling sleuths. They run low on finger print dust and Joe doesn't get to sing Da Doo Ron Ron, a Beach Boys song or even Chinese Rocks (Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers/ Chinese Rock (The Ramones).
I once had my house broken into and the police dusted for fingerprints at the point of entry (kitchen window). Based on this episode I think I can safely assume Frank and Joe Hardy would have dusted my entire house. They probably would have even dusted my cat.
I like this episode because the bad guys are Chinese. The good thing about Chinese bad guys is they always know the martial arts, which makes them formidable foes. I was surprised the Hardy boys weren't at least Yellow Belts in karate. Instead, they had to rely on defending themselves using their quick wits, natural athleticism and a gong.
I sometimes wonder how often the Hardy Boys vacuumed the shag carpeting in their van. Or was that Aunt Gertrude's responsibility?
