Boys Will Be Boys (1999 TV Movie)
2/10
Imagine if a "Home Alone" remake was written and directed by children...then you'd understand what to expect from this film.

I'll cut to the chase..."Boys Will Be Boys" is a ripoff of "Home Alone". Its plot is just too similar, but unlike "Home Alone", it lacks cleverness and is about as good as you'd expect for a film written and directed by children! Yes, it's pretty bad.

Two obnoxious boys beg to be allowed to stay home alone...and their hard as nails father agrees to this, even though the boys have apparently been pretty awful even when watched by baby sitters. The film then cuts to a police station where an illegal interview is being done with the kids (since the boys' parents are NOT present nor do they have a lawyer). Apparently SOMETHING bad happened...and it turns out, well, that they did a "Home Alone" on some jerk who was trying to break in their house.

So is this any good? Heavens, no!! The writing and characters are the main problem. The people in the film are all one-dimensional, such as the younger 'brainiac' kid who talks like a college professor and the workaholic father (played woodenly by Randy Travis). I cannot see any adult enjoying it (which makes the one overly glowing review quite confusing)...and it might be a rough sell to kids as well because the boys are pretty unlikable. Plus, they could just watch a "Home Alone" film instead...which is what I recommend you do.

My score of 2 might just be generous! Do yourself a favor and think twice about watching this one.
