Nightcrawler (2014)

I wouldn't say it was the worst day of my life, but...

Warning: Spoilers
Louis Bloom(Jake Gyllenhall) is a broken man who is trying to make money. One day, discovering how Los Angeles is built, he decides to take advantage on that by filming people, like a vulture trying to get a carcass.

Well, that is pretty much all the movie, and that's what makes it so disappointing to me, I was expecting something different, and my expectations weren't that high, just better than show a crazy man being crazy for almost two hours and winning in the end because "the journalist system is just like him" or some generic other message like that.

Even with the story itself not been the best thing in the world, I have to say that I really liked the other points: Jake is good as always in the role of the sociopath protagonist, and every other actor was, at least, sufficient to their characters. The direction was good too, a great job was made to present that (literal) dark side of LA in contrast with the sun and beach that we always see.

Conclusion: great movie, but longer than necessary and definetly not THAT good. If you can think in anything better then "journalists are bad" as a theme to watch a movie, than I suggest you go see that other theme.
