I thought the setup behind it was really cool to make cakes to bring to bars to meet people. What a fun way to build up a hobby. The way the director introduced the cakes was really neat. I love how they planned the cakes for each bar they were going to go to- really cool idea for pairing. (Yes, you are allowed to bring cakes into bars.) Showing growth of her realizing her passion and being more self-confident was fine, but she already seemed to be really really good at making cakes. Some growth there would've been nice to see. Cake #1 was nearly as good as the last few cakes.
Then the story takes a turn, where I agree with another review, that the trailer of this does not let on how cancer-heavy this movie gets. You get to know the characters and their friendship and it's a fun, sad ride. I thought the lead could've been more shy. The last shot of them in bed was shaky that it was interrupting the moment.
