I saw the film for the first time in my childhood in the 80s and I have very fond memories of it. Now I've had the opportunity to see it again after such a long time and I'm very disappointed. From my point of view, you can no longer watch this film with its message today. You're only lovable if you look good? Seriously now? That's the bottom line? Both daughters should have chased the two men out of the yard with kettledrums and trumpets. Instead, they simply prettied themselves up and submitted their own will to the guy. It's terrible that this was actually the image of women back then. Be nice and pretty and you'll get a bloke. I'll sell the DVD again - I don't need that in my collection.
