First and foremost Jenna Ortega is an excellent actress. She has range. Now did the movie remind me of American Beauty and Lolita? Yes, but the cringy parts were a breath of fresh air because most movies nowadays play it safe. And that's boring when that's all you see. Obviously what they did was wrong but it does happen in real life. Which is exactly what art is supposed to do, copy and explore real life situations. All actors played their role well in this new take on an age old story. It won't win any awards due to selective outrage but it was a good change from the norm. I recommend that all of appropriate age watch this movie to be reminded of what it feels like to watch a movie that evoke emotions in you whether it be good or bad.
