Adventures of Superman: The Mind Machine (1952)
Season 1, Episode 8
9/10
Obvious stunt double

Although this was episode 8 it is clearly one of the first if not the first episode filmed in 1951. Tell tale clues are the slight differences in Superman's uniform from episodes 1-7. It looks to be the same uniform that George Reeves wore in the feature film Superman and the Mole Men so probably filmed shortly after. And shows Superman flying off from the ground which would be abandoned shortly after a cable broke that sent Reeves crashing to the studio floor. He would then just run out of the screen with the typical sound effect of him jumping into the air or use a springboard to jump out of the shot. So for me this is one of the more enjoyable episodes to really experience the illusion of Superman's flight takeoff.

Although it never occurred to me as a child watching on a much smaller television set but the stunt double is very obviously noticeable and doesn't look like Reeves at all. Also it's the stunt double who ludicrously ducks when a gun is thrown at him. I guess being on a tight budget it was left in to save money. Besides all that the acting was great and a very enjoyable story.
