The man stops to help the woman whose car has broken down. She senses danger because the man keeps hanging around after she tells him she called a tow truck and the tow truck is on the way. Once the man shows his "true self", she runs into the woods and hides. The man follows. While the man is in the woods, his car is available for her to run to and drive off. She doesn't.
She strangles her abductor as he is driving. The abductor stops the car and passes out. All the woman has to do is push the abductor out of the car and drive off. Instead she gets out of the car, attempts to hitchhike, then runs into the woods.
