The title of the movie signifies ruthlessness or merciless . It's basically about time that does not spare anyone and is ruthless in its behaviour to all. Chander( Shatrughan Sinha ) idolises his senior officer Kumar(Sanjeev Kumar) , treating him like family. Kumar too treats him like a younger brother , and his mother and sister as family. At work Kumar is an upright Police Commissioner who conducts himself without blemish even in public. Kumar's college mate PK (Kader Khan ) is a smuggler , unknown to Kumar , and he tries to get favours from him unsuccessfully. Sheetal( Reena Roy ) , a press reporter is Chander's girlfriend. One day Kumar crosses paths with his ex-flame Maya( Mala Sinha ) and accidentally kills her pimp/husband ( Manmohan Krishna). At Maya's insistence he leaves without informing the cops , but leaves a few clues , based on which Chander bases his investigations. Maya commits suicide in lockup admitting that she killed her husband , but Chander does not rest until he joins the dots and figures out the real killer. Kumar is in a moral dilema due to the events , and writes his confession, to give Chander. Due to Kumar's perfect and upright behaviour , the higher authorities do not believe Chander. PK plans to kidnap a renowned scientist. Kumar gets notified about it, at the same time as Chander confronts him. Holding Chander at gunpoint Kumar commands him to join in the rescue, to which Chander agrees. In an action packed battle Kumar and PK come face to face. As PK tries to flee the country in a plane, Kumar crashes his jeep into it , and even as Chander looks on in utter horror. A seriously injured Kumar walks out of the burning wreckage , collapsing in Chander's arms. Before succumbing to his injuries Kumar gives him the confession ( which Chander destroys ). The movie is absolutely watchable due to Sanjeev Kumar , Mala Sinhs, Shatrughan Sinha and Kader Khan.
