Why did they remake this one?!

Warning: Spoilers
"Police Story: Burnout" is a remake of the final episode of the original run of "Police Story". Then, in the late 1980s, someone thought it would be a good idea to make a few made for TV movies using the "Police Story" heading. This wasn't a bad idea, as the original show was great. But what wasn't great is that they tended to make remakes out of the worst episodes in the series. This one is a remake of "Confessions of a Lady Cop"...and while it is better, this isn't saying much because the original was just terrible.

Lindsay Wagner plays a police woman who is both very competent and on the verge of self-destruction. She's dealing with finding her old ex-partner dead from an apparent suicide, she's sleeping with her boss, and she's dealing with a case that is draining the life out of her. Can she manage to get it together or is she headed for disaster?

The reason I hated the first version is also in the remake. The lady cop tries to kill herself and how it's dealt with from then on is simply stupid and irresponsible. The show ends with everyone assuming she's fine now...just a day after the suicide attempt and without receiving any outside help.
