A different take
21 April 2024
Watched" Do aur Do pyaar" yesterday...the story is of two couples who lose interest after 12 years of love marriage and interestingly both get involved in extra marital affairs ......the story sounds similar to many Basu Bhattacharya movies which were bold & based on married couple's life, other then that there was Mahesh Bhatt's 'Arth', later Gulzar sahab's 'Libaas' which remained unreleased till date ....but i guess this is the first Hindi movie where both husband and wife are having serious EM affair & cheating each other

Surprisingly there were only 10 people (5 couples) watching the night show of Saturday evening.

Coming back to the movie, the narrative is good though i found it slow and probably the only Hindi movie which starts with extra marital affair and gradually the real husband and wife are disclosed...in the older movies lot of time is spent on development of reasons for estranged relationship in the story ,but here in this movie it starts with affair in the first shot itself and later reasons for looking out are mentioned through dialogues which makes the plot little weeker i guess.

Movie starts with a caption "marriage is an institution" but who wants to live in an institution.... So there is definitely a very mature thought behind the movie

The dialogues are very intelligently written with a comic & mature touch,as a debutant director the movie is very well directed but slow pace and a mature story may not be liked by masses & younger public.

Superb acting by Prateek Gandhi, Vidya Balan and all co stars. Watched Prateek Gandhi first time on large screen after watching him SCAM 92 webseries he looks very talented.

I guess one should wait for OTT release which should be any time soon at Hotstar...but must watch it... because it's different 😊
