Exposition kills Fear
25 April 2024
The finale of American Horror Story: Delicate left me feeling disappointed and frustrated. The episode was filled with excessive exposition that seemed to kill any fear or suspense that could have been built up. Instead of showing us the horrors and allowing us to experience the terror along with the characters, we were bombarded with long-winded explanations and unnecessary details.

The writers seemed to have forgotten the old adage "show, don't tell" as they spoon-fed us every little detail about the antagonists and their motivations. Instead of allowing the audience to piece things together themselves and come to their own conclusions, we were force-fed information that only served to deflate any tension that may have been building.

Additionally, the over-explanation of the plot left little room for any real scares or genuine moments of horror. The show relied too heavily on dialogue and exposition, rather than allowing the visuals and atmosphere to speak for themselves. As a result, the finale felt flat and lacked the impact that the early seasons of American Horror Story have delivered.
