This continues Kate's story. In our intolerant society, she represents a huge host of women who deal with unfair and hurtful things every day. We are introduced to these things in the very first episode and we know there is a back story. Of course, she is going to hook up with a guy like Marc, a sociopath who is probably only after one thing. She is so desperate for love outside her family that she is willing to sell herself out. But more important here is her relationship with Toby. He pretty much tells her he won't be able to throw himself into accepting his blind little boy. She goes off with Rebecca to a camp for sightless children an their parents. He chooses not to go and really betrays her. She and Rebecca bond big time and she gets advice that is so sound and sensible.
