C Nolan has nailed action genre at its peak. This is the 2nd installment of the franchise and I was mesmerised by this film. It is the most brilliantly narrated action films, unique from traditional films like Indiana Jones series. Nolan has made this, his career best, all three of this franchise. Though I can't explain it like Roger Ebert but still I will give my best try to say about it.
The direction is fast paced and crystal clear, explaining all characters, all the sub plots, progresses without changing the flow of thrill. It depicts a comic book based cop-crime scenario in a realistic way, connecting psychological traits, philosophical moralism, among the imaginary Gotham city and imaginary characters like Batman-Joker. TDK satisfies both children and adults with its multifaceted contents. Along with it the BGM is mindblowing, Zimmer has captivated the interest through his music, appealing completely the adrenaline rushness , the disturbing chaotic state of Gothàm city. Right from the bank robbery scene the BGM plays its captivating role. And the brightest part is the Joker. Heath Ledger deserves a standing ovation for his performance. His acting is phenomenal, multi layered with chilling flavor throughout the character. He is unpredictable, justifiable, non corruptible and confusing to the world. Is he the villain or hero ? The Joker has more power than the Batman in respect to educating people or make them think about their ways and means. Is he the dark knight atleast as a metaphor? Even as a metaphorical film it's a WOW. Mr Phillips too has perfected the Joker's story in Joker 2019 aligning with it atleast psychologically if not others.
The Batman is good nevertheless but a kinda dumb like figure whereas the joker is intelligent, against the corrupt material world, hell bent on destroying it. The Batman tries to forgive and adjust with the innocent attempts of people but the Joker doesn't. In reality both of them are right, one as the light and other the dark. The joker is not lusty or egoistic but a rational destroyer of irrationalism. Nolan has retained that ideological conflict as the real conflict and climaxed it. The world is controversial just like Harvey Dent. He was good but turned bad. Joker, Bruce and Harvey represents the cosmological reality, the bad good and the controversial. How all three intertwines in practical scenario is clearly evident as intended. The statements too, of the characters are thought provoking multidimensionally, has many meaning for the viewers, will finally spellbound you. The Joker money burning scene is just a double thumbs up. Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman acting together implies a solid casting done. The Dark knight still thrilling, engaging and entertaining after 16 years.
