I am little conflicted here. On paper it's one of the best releases in recent times. It makes for a warm family time during dinner. To keep it short I will rate my opinion according to following asepcts on a scale of 10:
Script: 8/10 - I enjoy the dialogues in the show.
Research: 9/10 - this is the most impressive part of this show. I am amazed to see so much knowledge displayed during the show. All the ideologies and rituals that are part of the Hindu culture and Sanatana Dharma are very well presented using thorough research.
Protagonist actors: 9/10 -- extremely impressed by lord Rama, shiva, Hanuman. The portrayal of Hanuman and Shiva is way beyond commendable, these fit perfectly in the role and pleases the eyes extremely.
Antagonist actors: 5/10 - Ravana is an extremely bad actor, almost no aggression, lacks ego, no versatility in acting, extreme stiffness in body language and non verbal acting. The actor who plays Akshay Kumar is the worst, doesn't know a single thing about acting, his screen presence is extremely annoying. While the Meghnath actor is really skilled he doesn't seem to fit in the role either because he is too tiny.
Video graphics and animation: 3/10 - this is the worst part of this series, doesn't feel like it was made in 2024, this in particularly annoys me as 50-60% of the action scenes use very poor VFX like it was made by exteme amateurs. Given that Indian animation and VFX has reached quite finesse in Tollywood and Bollywood, shrimad ramayan team should have spared a good budget at this.
Action sequence: 4/10 - the action direction is extremely poor, given that its usually combined with poor VFX, I feel local Ram Lila during Dusshera season has a better action sequence than such a well directed show.
Effectiveness: 6/10 - this again is confusing. Some episodes are mesmerizing and hold your attention while some are extremely boring and slow. The distribution of entertainment factor across episodes is weird.
