Too Heavy With Bad Cliches
19 May 2024
I love this series. Watched it for years. But this episode drives me nuts. It has to have set the record for number of usages of the word "baby". The murder victim is the worst stereotype of the Hollywood big shot...everyone is "baby"...his flimsy excuses and attempted coverups are couched with "baby". The only thing that saved this episode for me was the fact he was killed off before the halfway point of the show.

Nellie Lawton isn't really any better from the bad cliche point of view. The typical sweetly sarcastic siren seen far too often in TV history. It's a personal preference, of course. I just don't particularly enjoy that type of portrayal and find it more annoying than beneficial to a script, especially if overused. I will say Lawton's screen time is more limited than the victim's and therefore not as off putting.

This 1962 offering of PM just didn't sit well with me. Others will enjoy it more.
