Lazy plot and weak character development
19 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Don't watch it unless you want to waste hours and hours of time:

(1) There is almost no effort in shaping the personality of characters. The problem is particularly serious in Season 2: several senior officers in the army are brought onto the stage without any serious character development. These characters are often even spotlighted, encroaching on much of the main character's time, for no good reason at all.

(2) Much of the plot is unnatural, if not meaningless, especially in Season 2. Many Korea dramas have a story abt combating injustice - but you can hardly find a plot written in a lazier manner than this. A soldier simply discovered a USB containing all the dirty secrets, and that USB got produced in the court proceeding against the army. There is no good plot twists, no excitement, no suspense or tension throughout the process. No innovative ideas at all.

(3) Do not be misled by the theme of bullying. There are very few in-depth(!) messages about systematic bullying that could possibly be conveyed by the plot, which is buried in repetitive and boring scenes of men beating each other over and over again. The opportunity to explore systemic bullying is largely missed.
