Originally filmed in black and white, the remastered color version (re-released for tv) only seems to add more to this episode, and its a classic.
Mr. Howell has an ongoing bet with the Skipper and his pet turtle. So far, the Skipper has lost 39 races, and with that terrible record, Howell proposes a sly idea. Should the Skipper lose again -- Gilligan becomes Mrs. Howell's personal houseboy. Guess what happens? This leaves the Skipper all alone, no one to bunk with and boss around, and Gilligan hanging with the Howells and doing all the housework with a featherduster!
Best part is another turtle race challenge and the old "switcharoo," which really gets messed up big time.
You have to admit, the race is fun to watch, bringing out the best and worst of Mr. Howell.
All this goofy stuff was written by Walter Black, famous for writing many episodes of SPACE GHOST and JOHNNY QUEST. Black later wrote cop shows, such as HAWAII FIVE O and MOD SQUAD.
