Sister/Brother is about the rebirth and transformation of an unsung actress named Nora Miles as she wrestles with her missteps. Nora asks her younger brother Scotty to drive with her on a hastily-assembled trip from Portland to Seattle so she can attend a dinner party hosted by her long-ago boyfriend, Tucker, a newly-wealthy tech bro she hasn't seen since high school. Scotty is adamant that the dinner a terrible idea but agrees to accompany her to lend support. In Seattle things quickly sour and Nora is faced with a life-altering decision. Sister/Brother is fueled by considerations of mortality, of family, of time compressing everything. Above all the movie explores whether Nora is able to transcend her limitations, both real and imagined, to rejoin the world at large.
