A suburban boy inspired by his militaristic father is playing toy guns with his friend. Him and his friend decide to wear proper military gear and accessories when coincidentally a mass chemical attack hits a city nearby. Both of the boys wearing functioning gas masks aren't phased during the attack. They hear the explosion and quickly head home. On the way home they see the devastation and effects of the attack. Streets are filled with haze and smoke. Cars are seen crashed and left unattended as well as people slouched over dead, hanging out of there cars and some even on the street. The boys keep riding towards home before splitting up. The boy finds his parents dead in his house where he is left to fend for himself. Jump years later and him and his friend are now much older and have learned to live within there means and survive finding what they can and being very selfish. Coming across a group of survivors who need help, the boys friend turns them down and forces them to carry on. The boy feeling guilty backs his friend up. He has an argument with his friend about becoming these cold inhumane people and walks off. He finds an uncontaminated area where he takes his mask off revealing he is still the man that looked up to his father. His father always preaching integrity and value he reminisces on a flashback when him and his father were fishing and his father was telling him all about these things. Realizing he doesn't want to be this cold inhumane person he has become. He goes back to his friend and tells him they are going to find those people. They finally come across them when they are in trouble. The man helps them and finds out this is who he really is, ultimately becoming a hero as well.
