The Film derives its name in Old Slavic from the quoting of the Upanishads - "Tat Tvam Asi"- about the relationship of the Human to the Absolute. Pavel Ignatovich, a middle aged Russian businessmen, had built a successful business career coming from a small town and a frugal background. His success had made him a lonely man, with him having lost touch with his former family. Somewhat apprehensive over a grey deal, he encounters a moment of hallucination wherein he sees a man of Indian looks address him, in his own voice, albeit distorted. Thinking it as a moment of glitch he resorts to boozing at home trying to relax and fell asleep. The person reappears mocking his intoxicated state, his exaggerated self-explanations about career, and that he was doing these for his son. This encounter occurs time and again, agitating him further. Pavel Ignatovich consults a doctor psychotherapist, to whom confesses that possibly a statue of Chitragupta, which he had brought from Thailand seems to appear before him and speak about his mind and intentions. The doctor prescribes him medicines, advices him to take rest, and spend more time in nature. Pavel decides to visit his old mother in his native village. He had not visited her for a long time. The figure of Chitragupta appears before him even there, while he realizes that he was oblivious of the life of his close ones, as much that he even didn't know about the death his closest childhood friend. It turns out that his own son, who refuses contact with him had been present at that funeral. Remorseful, Pavel visits his grave, and asks forgiveness, seeking solace in the natural beauty of his village. Pavel realized that Chitragupta is the projection of his inner self conflicting with the life he has chosen. He promises his mother to visit her more often; refuses to sign the grey deal, and goes to visit his son.
