In 2121, DR_06 is a competent abortionist in The City - the last human utopia on an artificial island designed purely for the highest optimization on the desert-like earth. DR_06 works diligently to maintain his citizenship despite his low genetic score, called a "spec"; he aborts deficient fetuses in order to improve the efficiency of society in The City. His perfectly optimized life fluctuates when his ex-lover Grace, who left him after a dispute over existential questions about "low-spec" individuals, returns to ask for an illegal fake operation to save her baby, which is committed to be immediately aborted due to its 'insufficient spec.' Driven by the emotional glitch caused by their break-up, DR_06 attempts to secretly help her without letting her know, in order to earn time for her to escape from the authorities.The system at The City, however, quickly detects a micro-irregularity in his motion during the operation and arrests him for the felony. Instead of getting rid of him, they decide to wipe his memory to keep him on duty without any further possibility of interference by his emotions. Grace, who curses him for his intolerance, disappears from DR_06's mind. Only after leaving, she realizes DR_06's intention, but successfully disappears from the City as he hoped.
