" Polly-Ann A Lost Bessie Love Triangle Film "
PamelaShort1 December 2013
Warning: Spoilers
In this sadly lost 1917 Triangle Film Corporation silent, Bessie Love plays Polly-Ann an indentured servant, hired as a maidservant by Jud Simpkins ( John P. Lockney ) to work in his inn. A company of actors comes through town, and soon Polly-Ann falls for one of its members. Meanwhile, up in Boston, Howard Straightlane ( Rowland Lee ) is sent to a small country town by his father, to work as a schoolteacher in hopes this will straighten the young man out of his wild ways. Staying in the same town where Polly lives, Howard saves her from her unfortunate unfair with the unscrupulous actor. Howard's father discovers that Polly-Ann is his niece and sends for her. However, another niece wants Polly's share of the family fortune and tries to force Polly into leaving. But the father insists that she return, and since she and Howard have fallen in love, he happily forgives his son. Bessie Love was one of the more popular silent actresses during the reign of Mary Pickford, and many of her early films are tragically lost.
