Under "release dates" this is said to have opened in the U. S. in 1934. I have been able to find only one theatre where this now-lost Max Ophuls film was shown in America. "On a vole' un homme" was run on one evening only, September 29,1936, at the Laurier Theatre in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. It was promoted as "a big French feature" and was shown with selected short subjects, no co-feature this time. The newspaper ad listed stars Lili Damita and Henri Garat. The print MAY have come from a Quebec distributor. The Laurier Theatre frequently showed French-language films in this city where the language was widely spoken and where several cinemas programmed them from time to time. The Laurier, in the French "Social Corner" district, was the most notable one.
