Perry's guests for his tenth season opener are Ginger Rogers, George Sanders and Lou Carter. Highlights: Perry opens the show with the Ray Charles Singers and Louis DaPron dancers in a production of "Hallelujah". Ginger tries to teach Perry the mambo and they duet on "Who's Got the Pain?" from Damn Yankees. George Sanders plays the piano and sings. Vocalist, composer, comedian, taxi driver Lou Carter sings one of his original songs "Selfish". Narrator Frank Gallop decides that he too should relax this season and leaves an assistant Gym (feminine for Jim) to help him with the station breaks. Perry sings "Around the World" and "Honeycomb". A medley from his newly recorded "We Get Letters" album, Perry and the singers conclude with "Whither Thou Goest".

Perry and Ginger duet on "You Make Me Feel So Young". Ginger and Perry sing and dance to "Give Me That Old Soft Shoe". Gertrude Berg proclaims her desire to be dressed up like Ginger Rogers and performs "Peanut Vendor". Other songs include "Sabre Dance", "Petticoats of Portugal", "Granada" and "The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea". Jerry Lewis does a walk on plug for Muscular Distrophy Association

Perry opens with a medley of Christmas songs including "Home For the Holidays" followed by the "Here Comes Santa Claus" , and "The Sleigh"., The Orchestra performs "Winter Wonderland", "Christmas Polka", "Silver Bells" and "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer". , Perry helps Kukla and Ollie decorate their bedraggled Christmas Tree.The McGuire Sisters do some caroling for the grown-ups and the delightful Marquis Chimps cavort for the kids.Perry reads "The Story of the First Christmas".
