Is it just a mere coincidence that just days ahead of the release of the eagerly awaited Bajirao Mastani where the Great Clash between warrior-lovers Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone is destined to happen, a new song 'Albela Sajan Aayo Re' from the film shows Priyanka Chopra dazzling us with her vivacious dancing. As for those adoring glances that she darts at 'Bajirao' Ranveer Singh ...this is a woman in love. No two ways about it. The song filmed in sublimely saturated colours of joy and ecstasy, is a celebration of home-coming. The wife breaks into a dance of rejoicing as her warrior-husband returns ...The song is in the tradition of Lata Mangeshkar's 'Ghar Aaya Mera Pardesi' from Aawara...Or Kavita Krishnamoorthy's 'Mera Piya Ghar Aaya' from Yaaraana. Priyanka's expressions of ebullience are incredibly infectious. So far we've seen very little of her in Bajirao Mastani's trailers. In the...

“We actors are completely oblivious of ourselves and our surroundings while we perform and even when we watch our work in the rushes shown to us, our senses and vision are trained to detect shortcomings more than accomplishments. That’s the only way we know to improve and render performances that come close to our own satisfaction. And it is always the audience who have the absolute right to acclaim or reject our work, however hard we may have worked to achieve perfection and excellence.” – Dilip Kumar in a letter to Amitabh Bachchan on 14 December 2011
One article alone is not enough to write about the profound impact which Mr Dilip Kumar has had on many people and on Indian films. He himself may not have been aware of the fact that working in films would someday result in him being branded by film personalities and by fans worldwide as one...

“I always believe that my films should give some hope to the man who comes to watch them for those three hours. If he goes home on an optimistic note, I would feel satisfied at having done my duty.” – Yash Chopra
It was indeed a sad day when news spread that one of India’s finest filmmakers, Mr. Yash Chopra, unexpectedly passed away at the age of 80. Mr. Chopra is an undisputable legend and he has crafted some of the finest commercial films the Bollywood audiences have ever feasted their eyes upon. If Satyajit Ray is considered by Indian film enthusiasts to be the supreme director when it comes to art-house cinema, Yash Chopra can be classified as the definitive director when it comes to mainstream cinema. Yash Chopra is largely famous for making wonderful romantic films, though he has directed a handful of non-romantic films also. Yet no director...

This will probably come as a major surprise for those who are dedicated fans of Yash Chopra. It is being reported that India’s nightingale Lata Mangeshkar will not be singing the songs for his latest directorial venture Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012). Lata has lent her voice to the majority of Yash Chopra’s films which include Daag (1973), Kabhi Kabhie (1976), Chandni (1989), Lamhe (1991) and Veer-Zaara (2004), to name just a few. Her voice has contributed massively towards the popularity of Yash’s films and their musical soundtrack. This has helped them to transform into cult classics. Therefore, as fans are used to seeing this regular duo come together over the years, it was assumed by many that Lata would to return to sing for Jab Tak Hai Jaan. However, this is not the case and for many hard-core Yash Chopra fans, it will no doubt be difficult to listen to the songs for this film without Lata,...

Yash Chopra's soul sister, muse and Mata Saraswati- reincarnated Lata Mangeshkar isn't singing in the director's new venture. It's a first in his long and illustrious career as a filmmaker. From the time Yash Chopra turned producer-director in 1973 with Daag, Lataji's voice has been integral to Yash Chopra's creativity and cinema right until his last directorial venture Veer-Zaara.
In a conversation with this writer Yashji gushed, "Lataji has always been so kind to me. She can never say no to me. As long as I am there and she's there, she'll continue to sing for my films. She's a legend beyond all human definition of the word. She's my sister and I'm so proud of her. That's why I say she's one singer who doesn't follow music, music follows her. When I see her I feel very small and humbled. There're no words to describe her. She's truly the Bharat Ratna.
