about childhood
Kirpianuscus10 December 2016
not exactly about an age. but about the manner to present it under Communism. adventures, heroism, form of education of the future citizens of socialist Romania. but, against the mix of adventure, thriller and the courage of two boys, the film remains seductive for the landscapes, naivety, the flavor of a period of life for each of us who remains, time by time, the perfect refuge. and the beauty of Delta Dunării is a good gift for transform the film in small but nice delight. a film about patriotism. not very convincing. but useful for discover the manner to define reality for a dictatorship. and for the manner to use a novel as a film in which propaganda has a precise place.

Warning: Spoilers
Danube Delta. summer. a boy and his friend. few bad guys. a lot of adventures. beautiful images. to write about this films represent to rediscover a little part of my childhood. because more than an adaptation of a not brilliant book but perfect for an age expectations, it is proof of a form of resistance. like each Romanian film in Communist period who search be more than propaganda instrument. few weeks ago, I watched again. same nice atmosphere and tension. save charm. only the time is different. and this new meeting was a lesson about basic joy. and a trip in perception of a innocent society under a soft dictatorship behind visit of Ceaușescu in North Coreea. a film about little heroes. sure, not really out of political cage but well smart to transform a river in few not important drops.
