When I think of Wu Xia movies, I immediately think of Shaw Brothers and the many classic they have made over the years. What I love about this genre is many things, the Swordplay, The Characters, Story lines, Setting, Costumes and much more.
Wu Xia, traditionally is a form of literature. But after high demand over the years it’s become involoved in many art forms such as Movies, Opera, Video Games and beyond. This list of 30 Wu Xia movies listed, i hope you’ll like and want to thank my friend Richard Robinson for contributing to the list. Chinese internet giant Tencent has announced a remake of Shaw Brothers classic The Magic Blade and has also boarded Legendary Pictures’ adaptation of the World Of Warcraft video game.
Tencent’s production arm, Tencent Pictures, is taking an equity stake in Legendary Pictures’ Warcraft, which is currently in post-production for release in June 2016. Directed by Duncan Jones, the big-budget fantasy action title stars Ben Foster, Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton and Dominic Cooper.
Wanda Cinemas is also involved in Warcraft as a partner for marketing and promotional activities.
Meanwhile, Tencent is working with Hong Kong-based Celestial Pictures, owner of the Shaw Brothers library, on the remake of the 1976 martial arts title The Magic Blade (aka The Moonlight Blade). Tencent has already adapted the property into an online game.
Tencent also announced that COO Mark Ren has been appointed chairman of Tencent Pictures, while Edward Cheng has been appointed as CEO.

Image Ent. takes Shaw pics
HONG KONG -- Image Entertainment has acquired the U.S. and Canadian video licensing rights to 30 titles from the Shaw Brothers library owned by Hong Kong-based Celestial Pictures. Under the agreement, Image will distribute Shaw Brothers classics ranging from martial arts to horror, and period dramas to action movies. Among the titles included are martial arts classics such as The Shadow Boxer, Heaven and Hell and The Magic Blade.
