Jim Harbaugh, fresh off a college footbll national championship with the Michigan Wolverines, will be the next coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, the team has confirmed.
Harbaugh returns to a team that he once played quarterback for in two seasons.
Harbaugh has agreed to a five-year deal with the Chargers, sources told ESPN. The appointment is something of a coup for the Chargers, whose time in L.A. has not been high wattage. Harbaugh has won at Stanford, for the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers, and at Michigan.
As a collegiate coach, Harbaugh has a 144-42 record (86-25 at Michigan), winning three Big Ten championships and Michigan’s first national title since 1997 this past season.
Harbaugh comes with some baggage. Last year at Michigan, he served two three-game suspensions, missing the first set for alleged recruiting violations and the final three games for a sign-stealing scandal.

Novak Djokovic's coach, Goran Ivanisevic, did not win the Atp's 2023 Coach of the Year award, and many were upset about it, including the Serbian himself.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion had one of the best seasons in his career, with his coach Ivanisevic guiding him along the way. However, it was Darren Cahill and Simone Vagnozzi who won the Coach of the Year award, as they led Jannik Sinner during the 2023 season.
Immediately after the award was announced, many fans were enraged by the fact that it wasn't Djokovic's coach who got the award. Their rage was later supported by Djokovic as he also hit out at the Atp in a social media post.
But was Ivanisevic really snubbed when it comes to the Coach of the Year award, or was it given in-line with the past seasons and former winners? Well, let's look at the history.

They say that behind every successful man there is a woman, and that appears to be the case also for Novak Djokovic, who had yet another historic season on the Atp Tour.
The 2023 season will be one of the years that the Serbian legend will remember. He won three out of four Grand Slam tournaments, and finished the year as the world no. 1 in the Atp Rankings.
But all of the success wouldn't be possible without his team, and most importantly, without his family and loving wife, Jelena, who supports him on every step of the journey.
That's why, after the season, Djokovic wrote an emotional letter to his wife, where he thanked her for being "the best mother" while he was making history of the sport.
"What an amazing season this has been. Forever grateful to my wife for being the best mother I could ask for to kids,...

It is the Atp's year-end Awards Week, but surprisingly, Novak Djokovic and his coach, Goran Ivanisevic, are not collecting any trophies.
Djokovic was the Atp's most consistent performer last season, tallying a higher winning rate than any other player and lifting seven titles - the most garnered by a single player in 2023 - despite only appearing in 12 Atp tournaments.
Djokovic decimated the field at all the most important tournaments, winning three of the four Grand Slams this year and breaking a two-man tie with Roger Federer at the Atp Finals, where he scooped his 7th championship.
However, Djokovic was not in control of the Atp's awards this week, which honors the standout players and coaches at the end of the season. He also did not have the significant backing of the fans and fellow coaches who voted in some of these award categories.

As a former high school basketball player I can tell you first hand that I’ve had experience coaching little kids. While you know that you have to be patient with the kids and emphasize sportsmanship and teamwork more than anything, the most frustrating part of it is the little skills they in fact possess. Usually when kids are around 10 and younger they don’t have the most clean dribbling or shooting skills. As a coach it’s tough to display patience when your players are literally running with the ball without dribbling. But one thing I always tried to adhere to

On the same week the Summer Olympics are set to begin in Rio, USA Gymnastics executives are coming under fire for reportedly not doing enough to alert authorities of sexual abuse claims against coaches affiliated with the organization. The Indianapolis Star published a detailed report on Thursday that examines several cases of alleged abuse. In one example, the paper reports that a USA Gymnastics officials testified in a 2013 lawsuit filed by an alleged victim that "the organization routinely dismissed sexual abuse allegations as hearsay unless they came directly from a victim or victim's parent." USA Gymnastics, a powerhouse presence at the Summer Olympics,...
