Sex & Nudity

  • Suggested MPAA rating: G or very light PG for mild crude humor and slapstick violence
  • Completely wholesome and suitable for family viewing and classroom use
  • The plot involves a man's attempts to sleep with two married women. This, however, is not condoned, and the women at no time even consider agreeing to this.
  • An immoral man appears to be attempting a woman's breast through her clothes. Very brief and not inappropriate.

Violence & Gore

  • A man threatens another man on two different occasions who he suspects of trying to commit adultery with his wife. The dialogue very subtly implies that he wishes to cut off the man's genitalia with his sword.
  • A man dressed as a woman is chased and beaten with a stick. This is meant to be humorous and is not violent or disturbing in any way.
  • A man is pinched and threatened with burning by children dressed as fairies as part of a prank. Also not disturbing or violent in any way.

Profanity

  • None whatsoever. Every line follows Shakespeare's play exactly.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Falstaff, as a character, is notorious for being a drunk and a lecher. This is part of the play itself, and such behavior is not condoned in any way.
  • At several points characters are seen drinking alcohol.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Nothing unwholesome or unsuitable for family viewing
  • None at all. This is one of the most light-hearted and comic plays Shakespeare wrote, and there is nothing disturbing or unsuitable for family viewing.
