Too much detail, not enough entertainment

Warning: Spoilers
This crime flick is apparently based on the true story of a British immigrant who extorted $500,000 from Qantas, claiming that he had planted a bomb on one of their flights.

Chris Haywood plays Peter Macari, a young pom who has come to Australia after several scrapes with the law in England. After several misadventures he conceives his grand crime.

Writer/director Scott Hicks, who later directed Shine, has made a very pedestrian heist film, making sure that he covers every minute detail of the story, and dragging out the planning and execution of the crime. In the end, it's pretty flat and dull.
