Spud and Stick are found guilty, of receiving stolen goods, and sentenced to jail. Spender manages to persuade the judge to give Stick a suspended sentence. When a woman is mugged in the park Spender decides to make his mission to get him.
Spender's daughter Kate witnesses a young boy thrown from a clifftop. The boy Jason Bamford appears on missing person poster. Spender is tasked with finding out where he has been and who he was with. Kate attempts to identify the two boys.
At the ice rink, Dan Boyd stumbles across local gangster Tommy Thorton seemingly pressurising an ice hockey player. Thornton is a major crime target but so far avoided prosecution. Spender agrees to investigate but he wants Boyd involved.
Regional Crime Squad investigate Spender's relationship with the wife of a target criminal, Janet Thornton. Supt. Gillespie warns him about keeping bad company. Dan Boyd becomes concerned about Gillespie when he appears to have vanished.
Spender inviltrates a gang of scramble bikers who are behind a number of jewellery robberies. Stick loses big at cards and has to get a job. Reporter Sally Prince decides to expose Keith's relationship with 15-year-old Emily Goodman.
Supt. Gillespie is livid that crooked developer Ken Moran is avoiding jail. When one witness vanishes, Spender goes behind bars to to stop anybody harming Robert Cunningham. Stick joins a religious retreat to escape his debt collectors.
