Cliches on parade
lor_25 August 2022
A meta-clunker from Cash Markman, mocking the porno screenwriter in the most obvious, a groaner a minute way. Lowbrow fans will dig it.

Opening with "Psycho" imagery and music references, it keeps referring to porn movies ad infinitum, with characters turning to look at or talk to the camera at will. Mike Horner is the lowly scripter named Bill Dollars, yet another pseudonym used by Marc Cushman in his porno work, alias Cash Markman.

What I find sinister here is that the relentless mockery of screenwriting for Adult films hammers home the conventional wisdom that such a craft is automatically stupid and pointless -as explicitly stated in this screenplay "no one cares" about the writing or story in watching porn. That notion has resulted in the near-death of writing at all in current Adult movies (videos), as gonzo all-sex has conquered.

Horner is intent on killing off his lucrative main character Desiree (spelled Desire in IMDb) in his final script, against his agent Carolyn Monroe's wishes. But he's injured in a car crash and essentially kidnapped by a Desiree fan named Norma Bates (played by April Rayne). She turns the movie into a spoof of Stephen King's "Misery", playing the Kathy Bates role. Yes, Markman wastes lots of time her boring the viewer with the "Norma Bates" reference to "Psycho", not the Kathy Bates gimmick at all.

Sex scenes mock porn cliches like sex with the plumber or sex with the gardener, and Markman even mocks a fantasy "between life and death" scene that turns out to be an erotic dream of Horner humping agent Monroe.

The Desiree role is played by Savannah, that tragic porn superstar who committed suicide 3 years later. She looks great in her two scenes here, but given the plot line it's quite morbid watching her, especially given the silly approach of Markman.

IMDb currently lists this movie twice in its database, with different title spellings, and one time as a film, the other as (correctly) a video. It's quite an exercise to try and fix this mistake, but I'm trying.
