Cute little vampire kids and a whole lot of nonsense

This is hiding in an Eastern Horror multipack under the pretty arbitrary retitle VAMPIRE RESURRECTION. Once I finally figured out the mystery title was actually this film, VAMPIRE KIDS, it made a lot more sense. It's still pretty bad. A bunch of people wash up on shore from a shipwreck, and find an abandoned village where they take shelter. One of the group plucks a diamond from a wall in an old shack and awakens a vampire. With half his powers restored, he summons a group of five vampire children to seek out more blood for him to finish his reawakening.

Almost nothing is explained in this film. It's never made clear who these people are, what ship they came from, what their lives are, etc. It's never clear what their plan is to get off the island (hiding inland in a village does not seem to be a good strategy). It's never clear where the village they find came from, who the sleeping vampire is or why he was put to rest there. It's never clear where the vampire kids come from, and when an adult vampire comes to escort them away at the end, it's unclear who he is or what's going on. Then the film just ends, leaving completely unresolved the whole "trapped on an island" thing. I usually admire that Hong Kong films aren't obsessed with tying up every loose end Hollywood-style, but this thing is just one big tangled pile of yarn.
