A fine cartoon series of the 1990s

I first saw panels of the Mother Goose and Grimm comic strip in a newspaper about two decades ago. Because of its title and I only saw a few panels, I thought the strip was a combination of Mother Goose rhymes and the tales written by the Brothers Grimm. That was what I thought for a long time.

Later in 2020, I was doing a brief research on the fictional author Mother Goose on Wikipedia. As I scrolled to the bottom of the article, I found a link to the Mother Goose comic strip. Upon entering the link, it was there I found out the strip does not at all reference the Mother Goose author or the Brothers Grimm. Instead the strip is about a silly dog owned by an elderly anthropomorphic goose. And when I scroll to the bottom of the strip's article, I discover that the strip has an animated adaptation. I would go on to watch one episode of the series online a few days later.

What can I say about this series? I would say its a fine animated show of the 1990s. Fine in terms of graphics, humor, and acting. I also have a feeling Grimmy's personality probably inspired that of Courage the Cowardly Dog who would debut several years later.

It was funny....the Cat was the best part......

......looked like a fuzzy Catfish, all head and tail. Funny Marvin the Martian Voice, and ya hadda love the Eddie Deezen voiced pig. Some good stuff here-Dr Seuss spoof, Mitzi what's her name as the Goose, Ahnold Terminator type as the idiot Dog catcher, etc. Very much a part of it's times-and done w/out any of the unnecessary Ren and Stimpy type poo humour that invaded the airways of the time.

It's weird that this hasn't been out on video or come back yet in repeats, it is a funny toon. Mike Peters stuff tends to be pretty hit or miss, both on TV and in the paper-as he's very slapstick and the humour is broad. Here they seemed to distill it just right.

I say give it a shot if you ever see it....

XXX outta ****......."Grimmmmm....I didn't get the part!"

Just As Great As The Garfield & Friends Show.
Dawalk-129 July 2010
I still remembered this being among the various Saturday morning cartoons that aired and I watched when I was little/younger. But for the longest after it ceased it's run and left the air, I couldn't remember the title nor the name of one of the titular characters (which was that yellow dog). Seeing this was my first exposure to the story, as I never read the comic strip (I don't think I even knew this began as a comic strip series at the time), so this is how I first learned about it. I've always loved this and it has always been on my favorite animated shows list. I believe it falls into the same league as Garfield and Friends as far as humor goes and the first thing viewers who are new to this cartoon will immediately notice is that both share the same animation style. Those two things are what both have in common. I can't say which I still like even more, because I think they're great equally.Yet another classic but rare toon that fell by the wayside too soon in its run and also considering it hasn't been on the air since it stopped airing on CBS. It could and should use some air time again in place of any inferior program that's airing currently. However, months ago I became reacquainted with this show again after finding it on (what else?) Youtube, was reminded of the title and saw some of the episodes. All who would be checking this out for the first time should do the same and view these right now, if that's possible, please. It's part of the better ones than some, certain rubbish that passes for shows. Underrated, deserves to be brought back from oblivion and to DVD.
