Underrated masterpiece

I just saw Jo-Jo and came here to find out more -- I read the above comment,

and have to say I am not sure what film the above person was watching.

First, it's definitely not a mainstream work, seems Godard inspired in some

ways. Second, it is difficult to watch at times -- but for all the right reasons. It is emotionally wrenching, ambiguous and intense. I thought the film was amazing, truly engaging. It's a portrait of a woman -- a modern-day martyr, and pulls no punches, while also implicitly questioning the state of filmmaking itself. Finally, don't take my word for it. When trying to find out more I saw that the film has won numerous awards and was nominated as one of the best films of the 90's in an

ArtForum survey. Sure, this film will not be everyone's cup of tea, but anyone interested in the history of filmmaking, or the boundaries of narrative will find a gem here.
