Early "Ehrlicher & Kain" teaming - Fans will enjoy this episode!

This Classic Tatort episode first aired in 1993. The story line is still heavily referencing the newly reunited Germany, especially the prejudices between the "2 kinds of Germans". - A major robbery at a Dresden jewelry store appears to be an inside-job. The owner's involvement is immediately suspected. An intriguing side-plot involving the Russian Mafia and an international secret agent makes this a quite complicated, yet entertaining story.

Even if this may be a less than stellar Tatort episode, I must mention the significance of the title. Old time Kommissar Ehrlicher fears to lose his young "apprentice" Kommissar Kain to the exciting team of crime fighters in Hamburg. He is very protective of his young college, fearing that getting tangled up with a sophisticated high level crime fighters unit would be not only dangerous, but very likely deadly. Ehrlicher was not going to allow Kain to be sacrificed as an expendable "Bauernopfer". As a fan of the Tatort series, I always had the highest respect for Ehrlicher and Kain's dedication to their work, and the loyalty they repeatedly showed for one another. - If you enjoy a good crime drama, and especially if you are familiar with Tatort and the Dresden team, this episode will not disappoint!
