"The only thing that works is sleep and food," asserts Saffron Burrows when asked how she maintains her stamina during the 15-to-16-hour shooting days for her role on "Law & Order: Criminal Intent." "I eat like Michael Phelps," meaning she consumes a great deal—including meat, which represents a major culinary shift for her. She was a vegetarian for 25 years. "As a kid, I felt you don't eat anything you wouldn't kill yourself." The steak habit was re-launched when she was shooting Amy Redford's "The Guitar."
