When The Comet is bought out by meat-mogul Les Polanski, he switches the staff's responsibilities and vows to only print the facts - which raises the ire of former editor-in-chief Camilla.
Nora pretends to write for a poetry magazine to impress a guy who dislikes celebrity culture; Tom Arnold decides to turn the tables by stalking the paparazzi; Dave and Nicky attempt to bond with Les, who mistakes them for a gay couple.
Nora tries to get a hypoallergenic feline from a crazy cat lady who insists on meeting her husband, so Nicky plays the part, and fighting soon abounds.
Nora's sister Lizzie has cold feet about her wedding and flees to Vegas. Their parents (Mary Tyler Moore and George Segal) unexpectedly arrive and blame Nora. Also, Camilla reigns terror when she's assigned to clean the kitchenette.
Nora draws up a list of everything she wants to accomplish before her 30th birthday, but when her mother confesses that she's a year older than she thought, Nora scrambles to check off the list. Also, Les's thermostat goes on the fritz.
Nora tries to get Lizzie off of the couch by sending her out with Dave but is horrified when she catches them making out. Also, Nicky pretends to be married to hook up with a smoldering temptress, and Les grows a soul patch.
The Comet's circulation is up by 20K, which puts former-editor Camilla on the verge of a nervous breakdown and prompts Nora to throw a party for Les. When he's a no-show, Nora goes to Les's home and discovers he bought the issues himself.
After Nora keeps getting scooped by obnoxious reporter Acer Predburn, she's shocked to discover where he's been getting his information and decides to get even.
Noisy birds have nested in the tree outside of Nora's bedroom and interrupted her sleep. When she accidentally kills an endangered Bald Eagle, Camilla helps her dispose of the body. Meanwhile, T.J. and Nicky devise gift baskets for men.
Nora scrambles to make money to pay off the IRS, eventually taking a catering job. Meanwhile, Nicky and T.J. get stuck in an air duct attempting to get exclusive photos of Brad Pitt, and Dave's nasal spray turns him into a savant.
Nora's parents show up so her dad can tryout as a contestant on Jeopardy, but they ultimately decide to move in next door. Les's overbearing father also drops in to implement changes at The Comet.
The gang heads to a nudist resort to get pics of Pam and Tommy Lee, but Nora encounters her parents, and the guys get lost in the woods. Meanwhile, Les and Camilla get trapped in the back of a delivery truck bound for San Francisco.
Nora and Camilla are jailed for running a story about David Duchovny's fling with an unnamed woman. As Les tries to contend with the situation, Dave is left in charge and quickly becomes mad with power.
