Based on the work of Robert Sabatier.

1st Part: the screen adaptation of Robert Sabatier's novel manages to reconstruct the charm of his story telling and the emotion of his recollections of young street urchins. The casting brings out the best in its young actors who offer some captivating performances.

2nd Part: the laughter and the insouciance of childhood give way to the experience of pain and solitude. This part is graver and more moving than the first. The story, supported by some excellent acting, remains fascinating.

3rd Part: The relationship between the two cousins Olivier and Marceau are the heart of a third, particularly moving part.

Very good film with a very very good playing Nael Marandin. Very nice pictures from an good reconstructed Montmatre of the 1930s. It's a co-production from France and Germany. If you like this movie, you also like: The land which king was a child.
