Laughs for the whole family
Petey-1014 December 2006
Uuno Laakso plays Julius Särkelä, a grumpy cartridge who thinks he's always right and everyone else is wrong. He loathes Mr. Fallsten (Artturi Laakso) and the whole family for some reason. His daughter Saara (Hillevi Lagerstam) happens to be in love with Fallsten's son Martti (Ekke Hämäläinen). Then there's old man Heroja (Aku Korhonen) who wants Särkelä to pay him his debt.Särkelä starts to soften in the end after he's asked to give a speech at the inauguration of the new bridge.Orvo Saarikivi's Särkelä itte (1947) is based on Ilmari Turja's play.Uuno Laakso is perfect man to play the lead of this movie.Hillevi Lagerstam does brilliant job as the daughter.Aino Lohikoski does the part of the wife Emmi and she does great job.Always as wonderful Siiri Angerkoski plays Fiina in the movie.Arvo Lehesmaa is terrific in the role of Antti Kosonen.Jalmari Rinne does a memorable role work as Jallu.Aku Korhonen brings his own lunch and is always funny. He basically did the same role in every movie but it doesn't matter since he did it so well. These old comedy movies are great fun to watch for me and my whole family. There were many parts that made us laugh. One of the funniest is when Julius Särkelä gives the speech and he loses the paper he had written it on.I don't think the modern audience will find these old movies because they're black and white and they talk all funny. What can you do? These are the modern days.
