Good narration from Alistair Cooke
malcolmgsw30 April 2020
Cooke was famous for his Letter from America broadcast on BBC radio each week.So his is a very authoritative voice for the narraton. This film tells what was known in the year it was made.So nothing about Ultra decrypts of the Luftwaffe codes. So a fairly straightforward documentary.

"Very Well, Alone"

A straightforward 20th anniversary canter through the early days of the War laconically narrated by Alistair Cooke; embellished with a brief appearance by Wendell Willkie and shots borrowed from films made later in the war by Humphrey Jennings (including his postwar 'A Diary for Timothy').

Blitz on Britain?
plan995 February 2021
If the subject matter had matched the title I would have awarded 10 stars but as the subject matter was actually "Blitz on England" I gave it one star. The only air raids were those on cities in England, 95% London, with no mention of the raids on Scotland and Wales, if it had been "Blitz on The UK" then raids on Northern Ireland would have had to be included.
