Should They Find The Ending To This.... What A Beautiful Thought!
boblipton21 May 2024
Grouchy Sidney Drew has a lot to be grouchy about. His wife, Mrs. Sidney Drew, has fallen prey to that craze.... well, it was a movement at the end of the 19th Century, that persisted well into the 1930s, that if only you thought beautiful thoughts, beautiful things would happen. In this pursuit she has the help of Florence Natol, who sits around with her like a two-woman prayer meeting, when she isn't sleeping in the guest bedroom and eating Drew's food.

So Drew goes off to his office, which is staffed entirely by beautiful young women. And he has a beautiful thought, of placing one of them on his desk, and another on his knee, and so forth. He calls Mrs. Drew and informs her he has a beautiful thought, and he won't be home until morning. And he goes out with all the beautiful women in his office together.

The best of the Mr & Mrs. Sidney Drew comedies make mock of the neuroses of the middle class. This is one of them. It's missing the ending, but I have a beautiful thought on where it is going.
