The 26 Little Lulu cartoons made during 1944-1948 (and the two made in the early 60s) were uneven (individually and the series as a general overview) but watchable.
It's an uneven series of cartoons, with some faring better than others. There are some good ones like 'Hullaba-Lulu', some mediocre at best ones like 'Lulu Gets the Birdie' and ones that fall somewhere in between like 'Eggs Don't Bounce'. 'Lulu's Indoor Outing' is one of the good Little Lulu cartoons and one of her best too.
Still don't care for the racially stereotypical character of Mandy, she is annoying and useless here and, while her character design is marginally more appealing than in the previous Little Lulu cartoons she was in she's still poorly drawn.
However, the animation has some lovely backgrounds, some imaginatively creepy visuals and a smooth. The colours give off an eeriness too, it's not exceptional animation and it's a style that will take some getting used to for some but as far as Little Lulu cartoons go 'Lulu's Indoor Outing' is one of the better-looking ones.
Winston Sharples' music score is luscious, atmosphere enhancing and rich in energy. The theme song is catchy. Little Lulu is adorably engaging and actually proves herself to be the most mature character despite being a child being the one who takes charge. The ghosts are amusing and creepy, if somewhat strongly indebted to Disney and the classic 'Lonesome Ghosts'.
'Lulu's Indoor Outing' has some amusing moments and has a creepy atmosphere. The voice acting is fine.
All in all, good fun and one of the better cartoons of Little Lulu. 8/10 Bethany Cox
