No Musician He
Hitchcoc7 January 2016
Krazy believes his life will be enhanced if he learns to play the saxophone. Someone who was laughed at has now achieved notoriety by his playing and our friend thinks all you have to do is start blowing. There is a very good scene at the outset where he sends a letter and we see the process by which the company gets his letter and they produce the instrument. After this are a series of pratfalls where he tries to impress but nothing happens. People laugh at him and throw him out of bars. He tries to join a German band and ruins their sound. The strange thing is the resolution or lack of it. He only knows one song, "The Old Oaken Bucket." And he never gets anywhere with it. Still, the animation if coming along and his character is quite interesting.

Krazy Kat Tries to Move Out of Synchronized Cartoons
boblipton15 April 2015
Krazy Kat takes up the saxophone, but playing it causes violent reactions in this effort.

That's pretty much this cartoon, although the first couple of minutes are padded by showing the progress of Krazy's mail order sax. Some of he gags are pretty good, particularly the one in the housing development. However, the unvarying nature of the gags -- Krazy plays, awful noises come out, people leave or attack Krazy -- leads this one nowhere.

Technically, this is a synchronized cartoon, but there are some efforts to have characters say something. Perhaps the print I saw was poor -- there was a noticeable gap between sounds and actions.
